First Things First

PACE believes City Council must refocus on core municipal responsibilities to restore trust and deliver the essential services Edmontonians rely on. Years of misplaced priorities have left key functions underperforming, while non-core spending continues to grow unchecked.
To address this, PACE will:
- Prioritize core services by improving road maintenance, ensuring timely snow clearing, and reducing or eliminating non-essential programs that drain resources.
- Fix the zoning system by repealing the blanket rezoning bylaw. A sensible zoning bylaw will return to a more balanced, community focused approach that supports growth without harming established neighbourhoods.
- Streamline permitting and approvals by removing external pressures and unnecessary bureaucracy that slow development, drive up costs, and discourage economic growth.
- Adopt a practical bike lane plan that accommodates cyclists while maintaining traffic flow, recognizing that cycling infrastructure must be based on realistic demand rather than overly optimistic projections.
- Remove burdensome regulations such as the bag bylaw that create inconvenience without delivering meaningful benefits.
By getting back to basics, PACE will restore efficiency, reduce waste, and refocus City Hall on the fundamental services that support everyday life and economic prosperity.
