Safety and Security

PACE is committed to creating a safer, more orderly Edmonton where residents can feel secure in their communities and on public transit. City Council must support the efforts of police and other enforcement agencies — not advocate for defunding — to restore civic order.

To achieve this, PACE will:

  • Strengthen local bylaws by restoring a strict loitering bylaw and implementing similar measures to reduce public disorder.
  • Improve transit safety by streamlining LRT policing, directing transit management to work closely with the Edmonton Police Service, and coordinating the multiple security and enforcement bodies currently operating on transit.
  • Reinstate Proof of Payment zones across the transit system to improve fare compliance and enhance security.
  • Collaborate with the Province to better integrate municipal efforts with provincial addiction treatment and recovery initiatives, addressing root causes of crime and disorder.

By prioritizing safety, PACE will help ensure Edmonton remains a city where residents, businesses, and visitors can thrive.
