Steve van Diest is a proud lifelong resident of Edmonton’s southeast, shaped by the neighborhoods of Weinlos and Wild Rose. From a student at Blessed Kateri Catholic School and Kate Chegwin Junior High to a successful entrepreneur and community advocate, Steve’s story is a reflection of the strength and spirit of Ward Sspomitapi.

A first-generation Canadian with Chilean roots, he’s built his life here—from student to entrepreneur to community advocate.

With more than 20 years in communications and digital media, Steve helps Edmonton businesses tell their stories and thrive. He also volunteers globally with medical teams as a translator and storyteller, reflecting a deep commitment to service and equity.

Now, as part of the PACE team, Steve is stepping up to serve the community that raised him—focusing on local leadership, real solutions and opportunity for all.
